YES (Youth Employment Service)

The YES programme encourages corporates to contribute to empowerment in areas of national priority – addressing youth unemployment and upskilling the youth through job placement. 

Through the YES programme, companies that meet all qualifying criteria and pre-conditions, can enhance their overall BBBEE status with up to 2 levels. 

 Participation requires businesses to sponsor unemployed youth with a Stipend for 12 months in a job, helping create job opportunities and gaining of valuable work experience, in turn the business itself or host company where the Youth is hosted grows, benefiting the economy and all stakeholders involved. 

 YES aims to create one million work opportunities for unemployed black youth and transform the lives of these youth while helping to grow the businesses in which they are placed.

The Qualifying Criteria for YES Registration

The YES registration qualifying criteria are based on the fact that businesses must meet certain standards to be eligible for the YES Programme. These requirements include but are not limited to the following:

Eligibility:

To participate in Y.E.S, you must be registered with the Y.E.S Non-Profit Company.

You must maintain your previous BBBEE level status recognition, as issued by a SANAS accredited verification agency, in order to be awarded any points under the Y.E.S initiative.

Eligible Youth must complete at least eight (8) months of your qualifying Y.E.S initiative in order for the workplace experience to be recognized for verification purposes, and where due to any unforeseen circumstances the eligible employees fall out of your Y.E.S initiative, you will have one (1) month to replace them in order to remain eligible for BBBEE recognition.

BBBEE recognition is only applicable for the creation of jobs under the Y.E.S initiative for eligible youth who are unemployed at the time of registering for the Y.E.S Initiative.

Absorption:

In the first year of implementation, there will be no absorption points to your company.

The workplace experience must have taken place over a minimum of 12 months in order for you to be eligible for absorption points.

Workplace Experience:

Workplace experience will be monitored and evaluated by the Y.E.S Non-Profit Company and does not constitute Learnerships, Internships and Apprenticeships per Statement 300 of the Codes.

Up to 50% of your Informal Training (categories F and G of the Skills Development Matrix (Statement300)) of your skills development spend can be claimed as Workplace experience for your eligible Y.E.S initiative.
